Yesterday was my first real time hanging out in Portland, Maine. That is truly a town that loves itself (deservedly so, I’m sure). Just walking around, all I saw were Maine gift shops, bars, and shirtless people. Can’t hate on that.
It was a pretty long 5 hour drive; we listened to Carcass and Fiona Apple… but it didn’t really get jumping until Jarrett put on the classic “Judgment Night” soundtrack.
I got myself a few gems at the Holy Donut, and the band ate at Green Elephant (much to their delight).
The show was at the Port City Music Hall, which was a step up in size from their usual Portland venue, so there were some nerves that it wouldn’t fill up … but the show ruled. Plenty of people, everyone played well (SF definitely did a jam-y set, because when in Maine do as Maine does).
After the show there was a little skate session led by a shirtless Mike … but he was upstaged by Jim from Dark Thoughts, who pulled off some wild shit.
Off to the last show of the tour at Worcester!
